Overview

Made on YouTube was YouTube's inaugural creator-focused product event — a landmark moment for the platform and the broader creator economy. Held at the historic Spruce Goose Hangar in Playa Vista, Los Angeles, the event brought together YouTube leadership, top creators, and a global livestream audience to announce the next chapter in how the platform rewards creativity.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki opened with a sweeping vision for the platform's commitment to creators, noting that over the previous three years YouTube had paid more than $50 billion to creators, artists, and media companies through its Partner Program. Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan took the stage to unveil a landmark expansion of the YouTube Partner Program — opening Shorts monetization to creators for the first time at scale, marking what Mohan called "the first time real revenue sharing is being offered for short-form video on any platform." Creators reaching 1,000 subscribers and 10 million Shorts views within 90 days could apply for full YPP membership and begin earning across both Shorts and long-form content.

Tara Walpert Levy, VP of Americas and Global Content, led the conversation on Creator Music — a first-of-its-kind licensing tool allowing creators to use premium music in their videos without losing revenue. Creator duo Colin and Samir (Colin Rosenblum and Samir Chaudry), one of YouTube's most trusted voices on the creator economy, joined the stage to put the announcements in perspective for the creator community. Multi-format creator Kristina "Kallmekris" Collins spoke to the business impact of Shorts monetization firsthand, describing the transformative potential of earning across every format without compromise.

Barry Watts served as Executive Producer of the inaugural Made on YouTube event, overseeing all aspects of the live and streamed production from the Spruce Goose Hangar — a production that set the standard for YouTube's annual flagship creator event in subsequent years.
